The Business at OECD Statement to the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in May 2019 prioritizes 10 policy areas critical to fostering a leading and constructive role for business in the digital economy, highlighting the leading role of the OECD in this field.

It is a seminal year for the OECD on digital. The publication of the Going Digital project’s synthesis report in March and the May Ministerial Council Meeting on this issue signals the need for action. Ensuring the digital transformation continues to deliver prosperity, does not mean narrowing our focus solely to digital policy. Instead, it means a step-change across many points on the policy agenda and pursuing a truly multi-stakeholder approach.

The business climate remains broadly positive in 2018 with over half (53%) of respondents giving a positive assessment. However, business confidence is more polarized than twelve months ago with a quarter (25%) of respondents saying the climate is ‘weak,’ up from only 8% in 2017.

Business at OECD surveyed 24 national business and employer organizations from OECD member countries, to gain insights into the overall business climate, the enabling conditions and factors affecting for trade and investment, and views on top structural reform priorities.
